Our patients are often surprised at how quickly varicose capillaries on the face heal!
What do you need to know if you are planning a procedure to remove them:
- The Nd: YAG laser treatment precisely targets the dilated capillaries directly and does not affect the surrounding skin. The capillaries are "glued" together and passed through.
- In the immediate aftermath of the treatment, there may be some transient redness that resolves and the use of sunscreen is recommended within the next week. It is also advisable not to visit a sauna, steam room, solarium.
- In most cases, 1 to 2 treatments are sufficient to achieve the desired result. If repeated treatments are necessary, an interval of about one month between treatments is recommended.
- The procedure is performed during the months with less sunshine.
There is no definitive explanation as to why some people get dilated or "broken" capillaries, but some contributing factors may be:
-working outdoors or spending a lot of time outdoors
-alcohol
-genetic predisposition
-long-term use of certain medications
-age
